One of the many reasons why replay stinks. This is the play right before the ball got knocked out of bounds and Virginia was given the ball after a replay review.
This is a pretty clear foul on Kyle Guy that wasn’t called. Officials have forever used their judgement on foul calls like this, but then made sure the right team ended up with the ball. Now you go to replay, but you can only review who touched the ball last. You can’t go back and call the foul.
So we spend all this time at the monitor to make sure we get it right, but the rules don’t allow us to get it right. The ball did look like it touched Texas Tech last, so by the letter of the rule the officials got it right. But go back and watch the play again – did the right team get the ball?
