I found this article really interesting with regards to culture and the impact it has on winning. David Griffin is trying to build a family-like culture with the Pelicans, and claims that the Cavs won “despite their culture” in Cleveland.
So now he’s banking on building the right culture in New Orleans in order to facilitate winning, after admitting that you can win without the necessary culture in place. And if they do win in New Orleans, how much of it will be culture and how much of it will be because they got lucky and got Zion Williamson in this year’s draft?
I’m a big believer in the right culture. But the conversation about culture and talent, and how much one has an impact on the other, is a fascinating one.
